SLB

SLB 2/7/22

When you feel love, try to hang on to it and ask yourself how you can transfer the emotion towards yourself. I like to light a candle and listen to music, or move my body and wear something that makes me feel sexy. SLB is literally like a support system for your soul. So many of you ask me what I recommend when you need a pick-me-up. If I’m not feeling confident and I want to feel my power I turn to Cardio + Sculpt. Standing Abs always really centers me, and whenever I want to really feel mentally and physically strong I turn to Sculpt. Combine all three every week for the best results. This week is no different and we’re beginning with sculpt.

FULL LENGTH:

Lift It Higher is all about aesthetics. We're training the chain and working from standing to grounded with compound movements that will leave your shoulders back and waist feeling it for days. Equipment: Light to medium weights and a mat

Lion is OMG’s more athletic little sister with a Cardio-Sculpt-Cardio format. You can expect higher impact choreo and extra reps paired with a heavy weight sculpt. Equipment: Heavy weights and a mat. Lion lands in-studio on Monday by noon.

QUICK BURN:

Rabbits have become a symbol of rebirth and are associated with spring. Bunny could quite possibly be favorite new standing abs QB. It's classic SLB. I named it Bunny as I'm always inspired by the Playboy bunny and Jessica Rabbit around Valentine's Day. I felt as if my back and waist (muffin top) were reborn after this one. Don't skip it. Equipment: One medium to heavy weight.

Baddie begins with a brief low impact standing abs sequence and cardio blend and moves into an intense, classic grounded side lying abs series. This workout really hones in on the obliques and lats. *Please keep your abs pulled in and use caution when you lower both legs to the ground. Equipment: Just a mat.

Appelle-moi means Call Me in French. This 25-minute Cardio + Sculpt combines high energy cardio and a unique bodyweight sculpting sequence for an incredible total-body workout. Equipment: Just a mat.

Lotus is a 30-minute grounded, Pilates-based mat session that lengthens and strengthens the core. At 30-minutes flat this workout fits both the full length and Quick Burn categories and its great for all levels. Equipment: Light to medium weights and a mat

WORKING THROUGH THE BREAKDOWN

The breakdown is an integral part of the method in both cardio and sculpting. I consider it active fitness vs passive fitness because it really challenges your mind. Whether the process excites you or trips you up I recommend allowing yourself to really get lost in it. The process is messy but there’s something so beautiful about sticking with it and working through it. Allow the forward momentum of the breakdown to empower you and propel you forward in your practice.

We know that SLB hits it all — Game changing programming and unique, ever-evolving choreography means results that never quit. This week, our roots have been re-imagined and it’s body and mind-altering perfection as we head back to the barre and the mat for some Pilates-based active stretch. We have three fresh ones for you: Cowgirl, Lotus and Fun Fair along with a few great ones from the library to round out the week.

Full Length:

Cowgirl is a barre-based Cardio + Sculpt with a cardio > sculpt > cardio format that utilizes the chair throughout the entire workout. You can expect fun, high energy (yet basic) cardio with no breakdown and weighted chair work.

Lotus is a 30-minute grounded, Pilates-based mat session that lengthens and strengthens the core. At 30-minutes flat this workout fits both the full length and Quick Burn categories and its great for all levels.

Snatched is a 48-min standing abs workout that is both effective and efficient with a great flow. Expect to feel this everywhere from waist to back and booty. Watch your back when you go from fold-over to standing/wide second.

Quick Burn:

Fun Fair is a hybrid: Standing abs married with fast-paced choreography, and wrist weights make it a Cardio Core Quick Burn that's just so much fun.

Lotus is a 30-minute grounded, Pilates-based mat session that lengthens and strengthens the core. At 30-minutes flat this workout fits both the full length and Quick Burn categories and its great for all levels.

Chaser blends grounded abs with standing upper body work. It’s great on it’s own but I named it Chaser because it’s perfect to tack onto a full length standing sculpt or cardio + sculpt.

Oxygen is a 30-min medium to heavy weighted Cardio + Sculpt QB with a really fun flow. If you love CCS, this is like oxygen.

Spicy is a 25-min. Cardio + Sculpt that combines high energy cardio and looped and weighted basic sculpting for a total-body workout.

JENNA'S SLB PROGRESS

We love when you share with us! Read SLB member, Jenna’s story of progress and self-love during the pandemic

This week marks 1 yr training SLB: 6 days a week + 12 months = 30lbs and 21.5” gone.

The past year has definitely been a journey of self-love and self-care, something I had neglected for far too long. I had prioritized everything and everyone ahead of myself. Ever since my kids were born, I struggled with the ever-elusive work-life balance. It always seemed that it was work or the family, but never enough time to focus on me. So when the lockdowns began in mid-March 2020 and despite the chaotic world around me, I realized I was being given a golden opportunity. What I learned in those early days of the pandemic is that the only thing you can control is yourself. I was working from home, all the kids activities were cancelled and we were homebound. There were Z E R O excuses for why I couldn’t focus on me. So I turned to something that helped me recover from injuries over a decade ago when we lived in Philly. And it has been one of the B E S T decisions I’ve made during quarantine.

My original why was because I could no longer wear my wedding and engagement rings because I had gained so much weight, they were getting stuck on my finger. After two months, I had achieved that goal and ever since, my whys keep transforming and pushing me to think about what I truly want. And while I love that I’ve lost weight, I realize that the number on the scale is just that – a number. It doesn’t define me.

I’ve learned the importance of prioritizing myself.

I understand the need to be selfish sometimes.

I understand the need for self-care.

I’ve regained my confidence.

Because if I don’t focus on myself, there’s no way I can be 100% for the people who need me the most.
