Breaking the mom cycle while homebound

Ya know, it’s really the perfect time for laser or IPL but here we are! Being a mom is so amazing and so much work… especially right now without any breaks. We know it takes a village and we don’t have our village. Do you remember when Jerry Seinfeld would joke about parenthood? He’d say, “When you wake up in the morning, you have to be READY!” And as he told the joke, he would have his knees bent and arms out, like he was ready for anything that the day threw at him. Being a parent is such a nonstop cycle and right now I’m just trying to get Mars and I back on a schedule, home schooling him while working from home and still make time for me. Here are a few ways that I’ve been recharging and breaking the mom cycle:

Mani/Pedi —Pure heaven. I can’t get to Color-camp or Olive & June here in LA so I gave myself one and it’s not the way that I love it but I do feel pretty.

Virtual date nights and happy hour —Don’t just text. Hearing someone’s voice or FaceTiming hits differently and helps curve that isolating feeling. Get together virtually with your girlfriends, friends or SO. Jordan and I spend a lot of time apart as he works in La Jolla, and my girls and I haven’t had our weekly coffee meet ups or happy hour so we’ve been group FaceTiming and it’s been really fun. It feels so good to get dressed up, put some music on and be social.

Writing, blogging or podcasting —It's fun and cathartic. It’s the perfect time for that passion project.

Workout —Just get moving. Besides filming Studio LB workouts, I've been taking a quick walk around my hood to recharge and get that energy out.

Be spontaneous — Oh, that whole concept of doing something at a moments notice just for the fun of it? Spontaneity is NOT really happening right now so one way that I’ve been keeping it alive is to have a dance party in our living room at a moments notice.

Baths — Every night, with the works: music (reggae, Jack Harlow and trap, please), magazines, candles, a glass of wine, and salt for sore muscles.

Shopping (or window shopping) —Even if it's on-line, a little retail therapy goes a very long way.

Cooking —Healthy or not, all the measuring, stirring and chopping is really fun and inspiring.

Spring cleaning —It's the ultimate. Feng Shui the hell out of your house! I do it every year, twice a year. Simplifying and refocusing really makes you feel great.
